The second annual SamStrong Go Gold for Childhood Cancer football game was a huge success!

It was very heartwarming to see both the Memorial and Castle student sections going gold for childhood cancer. Seeing the gold, yellow, and black SamStrong shirts reminds us of the tremendous support Sam and our family received from our Memorial family and the broader community.

In the weeks leading up to the game, over 600 of the new gold t-shirts were sold. The proceeds, along with the generous contributions made at the game, all go to the pediatric brain cancer team at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and will be used specifically for cancer research.  Thanks to your generosity, SamStrong will be donating approximately $4100  to this life-saving work!

Evansville Reitz Memorial High School has declared their August 25, 2023 football game against the Evansville North High School Huskies as the 11th annual SamStrong game!  In conjunction with the game, Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke has proclaimed that date as as Childhood Cancer Awareness Day in Evansville.  A huge “Thank you!” to the students, faculty, and parents at Memorial High School for keeping the spirit of SamStrong alive.
